Steve FURY
aka Peter Thompson
Originally from Leyland in Lancashire, Steve moved to Blackpool as a teenager and began working behind the scenes for wrestler and promoter Bobby Barron, who taught him a few holds and moves in his spare time. One day he was asked to step in when Bobby had been let down, and he put on a good show, partly thanks to a benevolent opponent. After more lessons with John Naylor, he began to wrestle regularly on Blackpool Pleasure Beach, in holiday camps and for independent promoters in the halls. Max Crabtree brought him in to Joint Promotions, where he was involved in televised bouts with the likes of Peter “Tally Ho” Kaye, Lucky Gordon, Mark Rocco and Steve Peacock and also partnering Ringo Rigby in a tag match.
Nowadays, Steve/Peter is best known for his work with “Tarzan Boy” Darren Ward in organising the Leeds Wrestlers’ Reunion.
